This film documents the impact of Learning Through Photography (LTP) at Moore at William Cramp Elementary School in Philadelphia, one of the program’s five pilot schools. Through interviews with students and teachers, the film highlights the countless ways the program promotes newfound confidence and self-awareness in students by fostering creativity, literacy, and critical and visual thinking. The teachers and administrators at the school are part of a growing community of educators and cultural organizations committed to exploring art-based methods in the classroom. They are laying the groundwork for collaborative teaching using LTP as a tool for enriched learning that can change how we value, approach and practice art education.
Learning Through Photography (LTP) at Moore is an outreach program of Moore College of Art & Design that focuses on collaboration, community engagement, and the impact of art education on learning. Using photography and writing as tools for learning through art, LTP promotes in-classroom collaborative teaching, encourages home and community participation in learning, and supports Philadelphia’s goal of improving literacy and arts access for school-age youth.

I read that you have worked in South Africa. May I ask with whom?
Cheers,
Karen
Hi Karen,
Learning Through Photography at Moore is separate from Literacy Through Photography at Duke University. The Center for Documentary Studies at Duke should be able to provide you with information about Wendy Ewald’s project in South Africa. Thank you for your interest.
